I found the career counselling session extremely helpful and have had great success in my career path since. I have enrolled to do a Masters in Human Resource Management at Monash, which starts in a few weeks. I have also started working in an HR Assistant role. I love my new job and am really excited about starting my course. It's great to finally have some direction in my career. Good afternoon Karen,

Prior to our session, I was feeling overwhelmed with various thoughts and ideas on possible career pathways. For quite a few months I was determined to try and work it all out by doing my own research. While I did gain new knowledge along the way, it did all start to snowball in head. Naturally it came to a point where I felt professional guidance would be highly beneficial. After our session, I felt relieved and invigorated. I was relieved because the confusion I had going into the session was gone. I was invigorated because you helped me discover pathways that were very much in alignment with my personality/attitude, work values, needs etc. I loved how you were able to unpack every part of me personally and professionally, lay it out on paper (in a clear and methodical way), and then collaborate with me to narrow it all down to the specifics. I particularly liked how you encouraged me to discuss how I related to each finding from the report. And finally, your follow up email was fantastic because all the sources I needed were in one place, and it outlined the real actions I need to take.

In previous years I have been involved in other career services. In comparison, your service was the most professional and of a very high standard. I left our consultation feeling fulfilled. If I ever feel I need more information or guidance, that comes down to the fact that I’ve discovered new ideas/concepts in my own follow up research (not due to a lack of guidance in the first consultation). I would recommend career coaching to anyone…even for those who feel secure in their current roles. I would tell people it is a great way to learn more about who you are at your core, how that translates to the workplace and what that means for you.
